Em março de 2016 foi realizada a Cerimônia Anual de entrega dos Prêmios do HIPA Award, a maior premiação fotográfica do mundo, em Dubai, nos Emirados Árabes Unidos. O Prêmio é patrocinado pelo Príncipe Coroado de Dubai, que também é um fotógrafo e apoia o objetivo de incentivar a Arte da Fotografia para o mundo e revelar Dubai como o centro da fotografia mundial.
O Prêmio Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum não para de crescer ano a ano, desde sua primeira edição em 2011. Participaram desta Quinta Edição do Prêmio, mais de 32 mil fotógrafos de 171 países. Apesar da expressiva décima colocação no ranking de nacionalidades, o Brasil ainda não faturou um prêmio, mas o potencial para isto acontecer aumenta cada ano. Neste ano 987 fotógrafos Brasileiros enviaram suas imagens e país fica apenas atrás da Itália como a maior participação do Ocidente.
