O secretário-geral do Prêmio International de Fotografia Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al MaktoumAward (HIPAA), Sua excelência Ali bin Thalith anunciou hoje em conferência para imprensa na sede da HIPAA, a estratégia da competição para a sua sexta temporada de competição ‘O desafio’.
Bin Thalith disse, ” Depois de cinco anos de extenso trabalho difundindo a arte da fotografia para dezenas de milhares de pessoas ao redor do mundo e por sua vez, alcançando fotógrafos de 193 países ao redor do mundo, o HIPAA constantemente acumulou uma das mais impressionantes e diversas comunidades fotográficas do planeta. Atualmente a comunidade fotográfica HIPAA também tem crescido a um nível onde nós agora sentimos o ‘desafio’ a mais para continuar seu desenvolvimento e aumentar a sua paixão para a forma de arte.”
Ele acrescentou, “conforme a direção de sua Alteza Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed de bin Rashid Al Maktoum, o príncipe herdeiro de Dubai, Presidente do Conselho Executivo e patrono da HIPAA, optamos por tomar um caminho novo em nosso objetivo de desenvolver os fotógrafos. Esta nova direção envolverá um programa educacional mais extenso , ao longo dos próximos meses envolvendo um vasto leque de workshops, palestras e cursos que têm sido muito bem sucedidos nos últimos anos”. Bin Thalith apontou para uma nova iniciativa intitulada ‘ carteira semana ‘ que ele descreveu como, “um curso de semana longo para fotógrafos sob a tutela de alguns dos mais conhecidos fotógrafos do mundo como o mundo famoso fotógrafo e aventureiro Michael Yamashita, fotógrafa de arquitetura baseada em Dubai Catalin Marin, bem como o fotógrafo do Kuwait Abdulaziz Al-Duwisan”.
Oficinas práticas notáveis durante o calendário de 2016 do HIPAA incluem ‘Macro fotografia’ por Emirati Yousef Al Habshi atualmente previsto 15th e 16th de julho. Nosso novo programa de portfólio semana emocionante inclui um interessante conjunto de temas que vão desde ‘Harmonia Social nos Emirados Árabes Unidos’ pelo fotógrafo espanhol e ex-juiz HIPAA Monica Allende (programado 21st – 25th agosto), bem como o potencial de começar o novo ano de 2017 e aprofundar em ‘ o futuro como o vemos ‘. O secretário-geral da HIPAA também anunciou o aumento do prêmio total para HIPAA na sexta temporada de ‘O desafio’ a USD $423.000 que também coincidirá com um novo prazo para submissões que será o 31st de outubro 2016. Ele disse, “isso sem dúvida vai empurrar fotógrafos para trabalhar mais e submeter suas fotos mais cedo do que temporadas anteriores, que não irão apenas desenvolver habilidades de fotografia mas incentive-os a concentrar-se sobre o processo de pensamento que se envolveram quando submeter. O novo prazo também nos permitirá concentrar-se sobre o processo de julgamento muito mais também, que é sem dúvida uma vantagem adicional.”
Finalmente, Bin Thalith expressa compromisso contínuo do HIPAA para promover seu popular ‘ concurso de fotografia Instagram’ ao longo do ano sobre a plataforma de mídia social, Instagram. Ele assegurou a imprensa no atendimento que HIPAA continuará a desempenhar um papel fundamental na construção da relação entre fotografia e mídias sociais mediante a celebração, “na verdade, nós só anunciou os vencedores do nosso primeiro concurso de Instagram para o mês de maio que foi temáticos ‘aves’ e nos próximos dias o tema do concurso de junho será anunciado em todos canais de mídia social do HIPAA e para a comunidade fotográfica mais amplo.’

Ladies and gentlemen, warm greetings to you all.
After five years of extensive work spreading the art of photography to tens of thousands of people around the world and in turn reaching photographers from 193 countries around the world, HIPA has steadily amassed one of the most impressive and diverse photographic communities on the planet. The HIPA photographic community has in this time also grown to a level where we now feel we must “challenge” them more to continue their development and increase their passion for the artform.
As a result, and as per the direction of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the executive council and patron of HIPA, we have chosen to take a new route in our goal of developing photographers. This new direction will involve a more extensive educational program throughout the next few months involving a wide array of workshops, lectures and courses which have proven very successful in the past few years. The plan is to have this extensive program running through 2016 until the March 2017 with a particular focus on the brand new ‘Portfolio Week’ which will be a week long course for photographers under the tutelage of some of the best-known photographers in the world such as the world famous photographer and adventurer Michael Yamashita, Dubai based architectural photographer Catalin Marin as well as Kuwaiti photographer Abdulaziz Al-Duwisan.
Likewise, as a way of translating the ambitions of global photographers we have put forward ‘The Challenge’ as the theme for the sixth season of competition. We genuinely believe such an interesting category will bring together various interpretations and in turn present us with some of the best photographs this season. We are also pleased to introduce other fresh categories such as ‘Portfolio’ which explores a new concept of photographers entering more than one photograph for the category, showcasing not only the artform but the ability to story-tell through photographs, something that no doubt many photographers have been very hungry to do in the past.
We also have chosen to take a new route in introducing the ‘Digital Manipulation’ category which will break all boundaries for photographers and help them showcase their ‘post-processing’ skills that will no doubt present us with some of the most creative photography the competition has ever seen. The ‘General’ category this season has been split into two sections; colour along with black and white to once again afford photographers with the chance to submit different photography not tied-down by the colours of the photograph.
As part of our continued backing from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Patron of HIPA, the cash prizes for the sixth season of competition have been raised to USD $423,000 across all categories and special prizes. Furthermore, to emphasise the theme of the new season ‘The Challenge’, we have brought forward the submission deadline for the sixth season to the 31st of October 2016. This will no doubt push photographers to work harder and submit their photographs earlier than previous seasons, which will not only develop photography skills but also encourage them to concentrate on the thought process involved when submitting. The new deadline will also allow us to focus on the judging process a lot more as well, which is no doubt an added advantage.
Finally, we will also continue with our ever-successful monthly Instagram photo contests which have and will continue to play a key role in building the relationship between photography and social media. In fact, we have just announced the winners of our first Instagram competition for the month of May which was themed ‘Birds’. In the coming days, the theme of the June contest will be announced on all of HIPA’s social media channels and to the wider photographic community.
